CD: shuffle play, program play (up to 20 songs), 1/all repeat, music calendar. MD play mode: shuffle play, program play (up to 20 songs), 1/all repeat, music calendar. All normal editing functions done with separate divide/ combine/ move/ erase/ name buttons, katakana titling input. Tuner: 12 AM/FM presets, AM stereo/FM stereo/TV VHF mono (Japanese ch. 1-3), Auto station name display “A.B.I.” (Japan only?). Timer: clock/timer, sleep function, timer/sleep sound power setting(?), timer start. Mega bass, full range 8cm cone speaker. 7w+7w, power consumption: 30w, 100VAC. Remote included.

Features unique to ZS-M5: Electrically operated slide panel on top moves away to reveal editing buttons. When covered unit looks “smart”. (Appears to be cleaned up and compactified version of ZS-M3, much more suitable for bedside use, etc., but no apparent functional differences, other than disappearance of mic input).
